Al-Madinah

Al-Madinah is the city of the Prophet Muhammad (PBUH), and also his burial place. It was the first Islamic city to support the Prophet (PBUH), its members and it joined him in fighting decisive battles which were instrumental in Islam’s burgeoning growth and subsequent expansion. It is now the city of the Second Holy Mosque, and the monarch, government and people of the KSA take pride in serving and developing it in keeping with its distinguished status in Islamic history.

Al-Madinah is the second holy city to Moslems after Makkah. It has a large of alternative monikers including Taibah, Yathrib, the City of the Messenger, and Dar Al-Hijra. It is the city whose people provided over wherein support for the Prophet Muhammad (PBUH)  when he migrated from Makkah. It comprises the Mosque of the Prophet (PBUH), his grave, the Islamic University, the King Fahd Complex for the Printing of the Quran and many archaeological Islamic features [24].

Al-Madinah is positioned in the north-western part of the KSA, 250km (155 miles) to the east of the Red Sea. It is surrounded by a number of mountains: Pilgrim's Maintain Al-Mountain to the West Mount Sala to the north-west, Mount Al-Eer to the south and Mount Ohud to the north. It is very hot in summer, but its weather is moderate in autumn and spring and mild in winter. In 1926, Al-Madinah's population totaled 50,000. Its population today is approximately 500,000 [25].
